Ear Coning Instructions
Yes I do Ear candling at home. I buy the cones/candles from my essential oil guy for $5.99 a pair.
You can do this to yourself if you wish. I lay on the floor facing a sliding mirror closet double doors. You lay on your side with the ear up you want to treat with your head on small pillow.
Place one towel on the pillow and one to cover hair and neck to protect from possible wax drip.
Light the wide end of the cone
Gently place small end on the ear canal. Position the cone straight up. Adjust cone to seal the ear canal.
Let the wide end burn about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way down
Remove cone from ear. Blow flame out Keep the used cone so you can cut it open when you are through. To see what came out of your ear.
Turn over and do the same thing to the other ear.
You can use as many as 4 cones per ear per session. I wouldn't do more than 3 sessions in a 7 day period. The most I have done is 3 cones on one ear & 2 cones on the other per session. Then I did 2 more sessions in a 7 day period with one cone per ear per session. This was only because I had an ear infection starting. After I was done with the coning or candling I put 5 drops of colloidal silver in each ear to kill the bacteria that is the source of ear infections in most cases.
The active force in coning is the smoke spiralling in the ear canal. We need as much smoke as possible pouring in.If the wax is properly emptied out each time you cut the cone you continue strong flow of smoke. So if you want to you can cut the cone 3 times.I have done it both ways and I found no difference in cutting the cone or not cutting the cone it's up to you what you feel more comfortable with.
Clean out the ear with cotton swab dipped in oil (or water or better yet colloidal silver) Do not go deep. Gently swab the outside of the ear. This soothes the nerve endings (Also gets the smoke funk off the ear if there is any LOL).
If one ear still feels plugged, you can use another cone.
Get a paper towel and put it under the used ear candle/cone.Take a pair of thin nosed scissors and cut open the cone starting from the wide end and spread the cone flat as you cut. The off white flour powder looking stuff is yeast. Ewwweo! At the small end of the cone you will sometimes see chunks of funk and dirt. At the very tip and sometimes as high as 4 " from the small end up you will see the ear wax. The darker more amber in color, harder the ear wax is, the older it is. The lighter in color and softer it is, the newer the ear wax.
What does it feel like?
There is very little sensation. You may feel a very light suction. You may hear a crackling of the ear candle. That is usual.
What does it feel like after the treatment?
Your ears will feel cleaner and they are. Your inner ear may feel a little more sensitive.
Ear candling also helps a great deal with ear infections. You may give ear candling/coning treatments to children. I do not know how young is safe. That is a question best answered by your childs doctor.
***The big plus***
Is that you will notice that your hearing will be improved! Things will sound louder and clearer.
Also clean ears mean better balance because of better inner ear function.
